Air traffic affected by volcanic ash spreading across Pacific
The volcanic ash from the recent eruption of the Chilean volcano has spread across the Pacific. As a result, many arilines have been force to cancel flights. Qantas Airways grounded flights within Australia and New Zealand. However, travellers are becoming increasingly frustrated since different airlines are responding in different ways. Virgin Australia is operating from Melbourne, Tasmania and New Zealand with a reduced schedule.
Air New Zealand has not cancelled or delayed any flights.
The ash plume could disrupt travel for the next several days as it spreads across Australia.
