Power Crunch Advisory Issued for Several Cities including Tokyo - Japan

On 27 June, a power crunch advisory was issued for Tokyo and the prefectures of Chiba, Gunma, Ibaraki, Kanagawa, Nagano, Saitama, Tochigi, Yamanashi, Aichi, Gifu, Mie and Shizuoka, Kagoshima, and Miyazaki . The advisory was issued as temperatures rise in the regions of Kanto, Tokai, and southern Kyushu due to the end of monsoon season. Authorities have encouraged turning off unnecessary lights between 15:00 to 18:00 hours in areas served by the Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc to balance the supply-demand imbalance.

Limited use of air conditioners has been encouraged to prevent oneself from the the risk of heat strokes. Stay hydrated, avoid outdoor exercises and wear comfortable summer clothing. Travellers with existing heart or lung conditions should stay in cool surroundings, if possible, during the heat of the day.
