Armed conflict erupts in Sabah, Malaysia
Armed conflict began on the outskirts of Lahad Datu when Malaysian security forces attacked the Royal Security Forces (RSF) and volunteers of the Sulu sultanate in Sabah. The fighting started when approximately 1,600 “volunteers” entered Sabah to join the RSF which has made a claim on Sabah. Travellers should avoid all travel to this area due to possible armed conflict and lack of personal security.
