State of Emergency in Santorini - Greece

On 6 February, authorities declared a state of emergency on Santorini, amid intense and ongoing seismic activity. Since January 26, more than 7,700 earthquakes have been recorded in the Santorini-Amorgos seismic zone. Israel is preparing for a potential tsunami in response to the seismic tremors in Greece. The state of emergency will be in effect until 1 March, due to heightened risk of serious landslides and rockfalls. A ban on ferries sailing to and from the island has also been imposed due to high winds.

Follow the advice of local authorities. If you plan to travel to the earthquake-affected area, be prepared for damaged infrastructure and disruptions to transportation and communication systems. Aftershocks are possible after a major earthquake.
