Travel Ban for Golden Triangle Region - South Korea, Laos
From 01 February until 31 July, South Korean nationals are banned from travelling to the ‘Golden Triangle’ region in Laos. The Foreign Ministry issued a LEVEL 4 TRAVEL ALERT for the region. The Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone is located along the Mekong River in Bokeo province, Laos and is known as a hub for illegal activities. It is also the location where Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand meet. The prohibition is also due to the potential risk of terrorism and unstable security conditions in Laos.
建議
Exercise increased caution if travelling to the aforementioned region in Laos. To minimize safety risk, avoid all areas of public gatherings and demonstrations. Even events intended to be peaceful have escalated and turned violent in the past.
