New sporadic cases of Japanese Encephalitis found in Tripura, India

Health screenings have confirmed new cases of Japanese Encephalitis in areas under control of the Agartala Municipal Corporation including Amtali, Mohanpur, and Abhoynagar. However, the mosquito known to transmit the disease is not found in the state of Tripura. The total number of people infected with Japanese Encephalitis in the country has increased over the past few years with 63 positive cases and one death recorded from January to August of 2016.
