Violent Riots in Ballymena, NI - UK
On 10 June, violent riots and unrest flared for a second night in Ballymena after hundreds of protestors took to the streets over the arrest of two teenagers accused of the attempted rape of a young girl. The protestors threw petrol bombs and masonry at the police.They also set a car and barricades on fire. Four houses were damaged by fire, and windows and doors of homes and businesses were smashed. At least 15 police officers reported injuries. Police fired water cannons and plastic baton rounds to disperse the crowds. Further unrest and residual disruption is likely.
