Bombing in Damascus - Syria

On 22 June, at least 20 people were killed and 52 others injured in a suicide bombing at Mar Elias Church in the Dwelia area. Syria’s interior ministry stated the bomber was a member of the Islamic State. The incident marks the first such bombing in Damascus after the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. Investigations are underway.
