Finland Closes Four More Border Crossings With Russia
From 24 November, Finnish authorities will close four more of their nine border crossings with Russia to curb the surge in illegal crossings from Russia. The Salla, Kuusamo, Vainikkala, and Vartius crossings will be closed indefinitely. The Vaalimaa, Nuijamaa, Niirala and Imatra border crossing stations were closed on 17 November and will remain closed until at least 18 February 2024. The crossing at Raja-Jooseppi will remain open for asylum applications.
