Malaria cases in Manaus, Brazil

In the first 6 months of this year, there were 31,800 cases of malaria registered in Amazonas state with approximately 3,000 of these occurring in the capital city of Manaus.

Although the number of reported cases appears to be less than last year, any traveller to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
