Violent protests in Kasserine, Tunisia

Unemployed protesters have clashed with police today in the city of Kasserine. Police have fired tear gas to attempt to disperse the crowds. Protest activity has continued around the headquarters of Kasserine Governorate and has spread to the Ennour and Ezzouhour neighbourhoods in Kasserine.

Avoid all areas of protests. There may still be disruption to road travel since protesters blocked roads with burning tires. Travellers to this area should be aware of the political tensions around unemployment and also the removal of a Kasserine delegate by the Head of Government.
