Protests and violence continue with demonstrators denouncing corruption and demanding the resignation of the president. Today there are reports of violence and roadblocks in Port-au-Prince, Les Cayes at La Savane, and Gonaives in front of L’Universite de Droits. On Monday, a journalist was shot and killed as he drove home, and journalists are demanding protection.

Advice

The safety and security situation in Haiti is unstable and unpredictable. Many countries advise citizens to avoid travel to this country. If travelling to Haiti, be aware of the potential for violent protests that may occur with no notice. Avoid all areas where there are demonstrations or large public gatherings of people. Local police may have a limited capacity to provide assistance.
