Tropical Cyclone GEZANI made landfall in the port city of Toamasina, Madagascar, with sustained winds of up to 250 km/h. Severe storm conditions and emergency alerts are in effect across Toamasina and surrounding districts. Authorities report at least 35 fatalities, with approximately 250,000 people affected or displaced.
The system has since weakened to a tropical storm as it moves into the Mozambique Channel. However, heavy rainfall and strong winds remain possible in parts of Mozambique.
