Malaria persists in Kailali District, Nepal

In the past year, 195 people have been diagnosed with malaria in the Kailali District. Many of the cases are Nepali migrant workers returning from India. In the past one month, 15 new malaria patients were reported. Kanchanpur District is also a malaria affected area.

Travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
