Dengue fever in the popular tourist destination of Phi Phi Islands in Thailand

Health officials have reported 20 cases of dengue fever in the popular tourist destination of Phi Phi Island. which is part of the southern province of Krabi. Some of the cases have occurred in tourists. There has been 1 death since the beginning of 2011. A total of 380 dengue fever cases have occurred in this province.

Travellers to this area should be aware of the risk of exposure to dengue fever even in popular tourist destinations. Travellers should take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
