Malaria is spreading in refugee camps in Sudan

Malaria is reported to be spreading in the population of the El Geneina refugee camps for the displaced in West Darfur. The health centres in the camps are reporting about 30 new patients every day.

Advice

Health care workers in Sudanese refugee camps may be exposed to malaria. Any traveller to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
