Khmer New Year, Walk Street Celebrations - Phnom Penh, Cambodia

From 12 - 16 April, the Wat Phnom Sangkranti (Khmer New Year) celebrations and open Walk Street will be held in the capital city. There will be religious ceremonies, traditional dance performances, national folk games, music performances, entertainment, as well as exhibitions. The Walk Street will be organized along Sisowath Avenue from the front of the Royal Palace until Wat Phnom. Heightened security arrangements and traffic disruptions are likely during this period.

There may be heightened police presence to ensure safety of the public. Allow extra time for road travel due to possible traffic congestion. Plan alternate routes in case of diversions. Familiarize yourself with exits and exit routes through large crowds. Follow any other advice by local as well as immigration authorities.
