New cases of chikungunya fever appear in Anchuthengu Region, India

Health officials have reported 10 cases of chikungunya fever in the the coastal region of Anchuthengu. A total of 500 suspected cases were reported in the past two weeks.

Travellers to this area can reduce their risk of exposure to chikungunya fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with chikungunya fever may not seek medical care and may not be reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community that are not reported.
