On 26 July, the French civil aviation authority (DGAC) will impose a no-fly zone in Paris and parts of northern France during to the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympics. The zone will cover 28,922 square miles with a radius of 80 nautical miles centred on Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris. From 18:30 to 24:00 hours (local time), almost all planes will be banned from the zone. The zone includes the Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle, Paris Orly, Paris-Le Bourget, and Paris Beauvais airports. Flights transiting the space will also be affected and will likely have to be diverted. British airline EasyJet has announced the cancellation of at least 96 flights to and from Paris due to the ban. Other airlines will also be affected.
