Super typhoon HAIYAN (YOLANDA) causes much damage in Philippines

One of the strongest typhoons ever swept across the central Philippines, disrupting transportation, closing airports and causing extensive damage due to flooding and high winds. Although there are reports of 3 deaths, the true extent of loss of life and infrastructure damage remains to be assessed. Travellers should avoid all travel to the affected areas since essential services, including transportation, are probably unavailable.
