Violent Protests in Guatemala City, Guatemala

The protests on Saturday (21 Nov) turned violent as about 10,000 people vented their frustration in Guatemala City around the National Palace and about 1000 gathering outside the congress building. Hundreds broke into the congress building and set part of the building on fire as well as some bus stations.

Citizens are protesting against government corruption, poverty, and the budget. Protesters view the supreme court and attorney general as undermining the fight against corruption.
