Civil Unrest - US warns of possible bomb attack in Mombasa

The second discovery of bomb making material in Nairobi has prompted the US embassy to issue a warning of a possible imminent threat of an attack on the Kenyan port city of Mombasa which is a frequent tourist destination. The warning is in place until July 1. Mombasa, Nairobi and other parts of Kenya have been affected by a series of grenade attacks since Kenya sent troops into Somalia last year to pursue al-Qaeda-allied al-Shabab fighters.

Travellers may wish temporarily to reconsider travelling to these cities in Kenya until the situation is clarified.
