Malaria is a major risk in Madagascar

From January to the end of May, there have been almost 213,000 reported cases of malaria nationwide, with 187 deaths. The number has increased in 31 districts.

Advice

Any traveller to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
