Update: Protests Worldwide After Gaza Hospital Attacked

Late on 17 October, following the blast at Gazaโ€™s Ahli Arab Hospital, violent anti-Israel/pro-Palestine protests got underway in major cities of the Middle East, North Africa, Canada and the USA. Affected regions include:

  • cities in the West Bank

  • Istanbul, Turkey

  • Tehran, Iran

  • Baghdad, Iraq

  • Amman, Jordan

  • cities in Lebanon

  • Tunis, Tunisia

  • Rabat, Morocco

  • Tripoli, Libya

  • cities in Egypt

  • Paris, France

  • cities in Yemen

  • Toronto and Mississauga, Canada

  • White House, Washington DC, USA

Mass rallies were staged at government buildings and common protest sites in these countries. Israeli, French, UK and US Embassies were also targeted. Violent confrontations broke out between the protesters and local police in some areas. Protests over this issue may continue and spread to other parts of the world including Europe, Australia and parts of East Asia.
