Airbnb To Shut Domestic Ops in China From July 30
On 24 May, Airbnb said it will wind down its domestic operations in China from July 30. The decision comes in the wake of Airbnb garnering roughly 1% from its China-based operations in recent years. Adding to the company’s woes were China’s strict COVID-19 policies that restricted intra-state and inter-state travel. However, the company said its platform will be available to users in China to book listings and experiences abroad.
Airbnb is set to remove about 150,000 listings in China. Travellers are advised to visit other Chinese home-rental platforms to plan their travels in advance.
