Lue lisääRaw (unpasteurized) milk doubly contaminated in Finland
A total of 27 people became ill after consuming raw (unpasteurized) milk produced by Uljaan tilamaito from a farm in Askola, Finland. Ill persons were from Porvoo and in the neighbouring municipalities of Askola, Lovisa, Borgnas and Sipoo. Another 20 people are under investigation. The milk was contaminated with 2 different kinds of bacteria.
Raw milk and milk products are often associated with outbreaks of bacterial food poisoning. Travellers can reduce the risk of exposure to the many germs that cause intestinal illness (such as cholera, E.coli, salmonella, and many viruses) by following food and water recommendations. Avoid consuming raw milk.
