Wind and rain bring flooding to Portugal's Algarve

Heavy rain and strong wind caused flooding in southern Portugal over the weekend. In the area of Albufeira, flood levels reach 1.5 meters in some places.

The weather will continue to affect southern Portugal through Monday. Weather forecasts show “unsettled” weather through Thursday for this popular tourist area.

There may be damage to infrastructure. Roads were closed in various locations in the Algarve, including Loulé, Albufeira, Lagoa, Silves and Portimão. There could be airport and rail travel delays.
