Mali: Nationalist Group to Demonstrate in Bamako on 7 December

The nationalist Groupe Des Patriotes Du Mali (GPM, Patriot Group of Mali) group has called for a rally on 7 December in Bamako to promote Mali-Russia relations. The march is expected to depart at 09:00 (local time) from Babemba via Monument de L’Independence and end at the Bourse du Travail in Bamako.

The march has been authorized by the local government. Though the demonstration is expected to be peaceful, precedents indicate a likely increased deployment of security forces along the route of the rally. Any unruly behaviour by the participants will provoke forceful crowd control measures from the security forces including the use of tear gas.
