Can a resident enter the country?

Citizens and residents are allowed to enter Fiji. Returning residents and citizens must request permission to enter Fiji from the COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Taskforce (CRMT). To request permission, email the following documents to [email protected] :

A letter addressed to the Chair COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Taskforce providing background to your request;

A copy of passport bio-data page;

A copy of the valid work permit or provide the approval letter by Immigration that was given for the work permit;

Proposed itinerary;

Confirmation you’re willing to enter a government-mandated quarantine facility for 14 days;

Evidence of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test (for a nasopharyngeal sample taken not more than 72 hours before departure). The test result must be in the form of the complete report from the laboratory that performed the test

All Fijian citizens will undergo a COVID-19 test on arrival.

Any foreigner with symptoms of COVID-19 will be tested at their own expense.

All foreign nationals eligible to enter Fiji must have proof of negative COVID test result taken within 72 hours prior to their departure for Fiji.

Fijian citizens departing countries determined as a high risk for COVID-19 may also need to be tested before departure (contact [email protected] or [email protected] for confirmation). Citizens unable to get a test in the country of departure can contact the immigration department.
Is quarantine required on arrival?

Anyone arriving in Fiji will be subject to 14 days of institutional quarantine. Regardless of whether a traveller has symptoms or not, an exit test will be carried out. For Fiji citizens, the exit test will take place on day 12 of the 14-day quarantine period. For non-Fiji citizens, the exit test will take place at the end of the 14-day quarantine.

Regardless of whether arriving by air or sea, returning Fijian citizens or residents are required to download the careFIJI App to enter the country. Those without a smartphone can buy one upon landing at Nadi airport.

Nadi International Airport is closed to most commercial international flights until further notice. A very limited number of flights are arriving and departing from this airport.

The domestic carrier, Fiji Link, has resumed limited services among different islands.

Fiji Airways will operate repatriation flights from various Australian airports in December 2020 and January 2021. Information on these flights can be found here.

Fiji has established safe “blue lanes”, open to those yachts and pleasure craft sailing to Fiji. Any boat coming to Fiji will be carefully considered on a case-by-case basis. The only port of entry will be Port Denarau Marina.

Those eligible to sail to Fiji fall under two categories, both of which will require them to be tested in another country before departing.

If their journey by boat to Fiji will take 14 days or longer uninterrupted at sea, once they dock in Fiji and show proof of a negative test result, everyone on board will be screened by the Ministry of Health for symptoms. If they’re deemed to be healthy, their yacht will be allowed to freely visit other ports throughout Fiji.

Those arriving by boat with a journey at sea shorter than 14 days will be required to make up the difference in quarantine once they dock in Fiji at their own cost.

Cruise ships are still strictly banned.
