En savoir plusMalaria cases reported in Botswana
The Palapye Primary Hospital has treated 47 cases of malaria so far this year. Many of the cases were residents of Palapye. Affected villages include Seolwane, Malaka, Makoro, Lechana, Lerala, Lecheng, and Matolwane. There have been 2 deaths.
There is a risk of malaria from May/June to November in the northern parts of Botswana, e.g., in Bobirwa, Boteti, Chobe, Ngamiland, Okavango, and Tutume. However, due to heavy rains that favoured the proliferation of mosquitoes, malaria cases are appearing earlier than expected. Travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
