Libya: Violent Clashes in Tripoli on 4 December

Violent clashes erupted between the Government of National Accord (GNA)-aligned forces and militiamen in the vicinity of the presidential palace in Tripoli on 4 December. Reportedly, an armed group from Misrata, a Libyan city east of Tripoli, fired at the guards after they attempted to escort the Prime Minister from his building.

The Libyan capital has been the scene of fighting between rival militias since April. Due to continued armed conflict and lack of personal security, some countries advise their citizens to avoid travel to Libya at this time.
