詳細Outbreak of watery diarrhea in Sudan claims the lives of 12 people
According to government officials, Jebit, Suakin, and Hiya, 3 main cities in the Red Sea state, are experiencing an outbreak of watery diarrhea that has led to 12 deaths. In Jebit town, 8 people have died, 2 from Suakin city, and 2 from Hiya town.
Government officials are urging the outbreak to be taken seriously since the Red Sea state has been affected by cholera in earlier years, and the lack of proper lab equipment makes it hard to confirm the underlying cause of the symptoms seen in the area.
アドバイス
Even though it has not been officially diagnosed as cholera, travellers should take precautions against the outbreak of this watery diarrhea as if it were cholera. All travellers can minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Strictly observe all food and water precautions in any area where there is cholera. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
