COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in Seychelles (4 December Update)

Can a resident enter the country?

  • Yes

  • Citizens/residents are allowed to enter Seychelles.

Can a foreigner enter the country?

  • Yes with exceptions

  • Seychelles has designated a list of “permitted countries”. Travellers from approved countries deemed to be at low or medium COVID-19 risk will be permitted entry to Seychelles. The list of “permitted countries” can be found here.

  • Special Status has been granted to a group of seven countries: the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and the United Arab Emirates. For these seven countries, if case numbers exceed a designated threshold, the country will be moved from Category 1 “permitted country” to Category 2 “permitted country” and with a separate set of measures.

Is a test required on arrival?

  • No

  • Travellers from approved countries must go through health screenings.

  • Citizens/residents will have health screenings on arrival.

Test certificate required?

  • Yes

  • Travellers from approved countries must have a negative PCR test certificate issued no older than 72 hours prior to boarding. Results with an entry sheet must be submitted by email prior to travel to [email protected]. The form can be found here. Anyone arriving without a test result certificate will be deported on the same aeroplane they arrived on.

  • If a Special Status country’s COVID-19 case numbers exceed a certain threshold, the country will move to Category 2 with a separate set of measures. The Special Status countries include the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and the United Arab Emirates. Travellers arriving from a Special Status country must have a negative PCR COVID-19 test certificate issued within the last 48 hours prior to departure from the origin country. Travellers must stay in a designated hotel for 5 days. On the fifth day, another COVID-19 test will be performed. If negative, the visitor is free to travel. If positive, the visitor will be required to remain in a designated location until cleared by the Public Health Authority.

  • Returning citizens/residents must provide a negative PCR test certificate issued no more than 72 hours prior to boarding.

Is quarantine required on arrival?

  • Yes

  • Seychelles has a designated list of “permitted countries”. Travellers from approved countries deemed to be at low or medium COVID-19 risk will be permitted entry to Seychelles. No quarantine rules currently exist for these visitors.

  • Travellers from Special Status countries will need to quarantine at a designated establishment for the initial 5 days. They must have another PCR test on the 5th day. Anyone testing positive will be quarantined until their recovery. If found negative, travellers may continue their planned activities.

  • Citizens/residents will be subject to isolation measures. Those coming from any high-risk country must enter a 14-day quarantine at a government facility at their own expense. Those who have spent at least 14 days in low/medium risk countries before arrival will be allowed to complete their 14-day self-isolation at home.

  • Arrivals by boat need to go through a 14-day self-quarantine on board.

Insurance required?

  • Yes

  • Travellers from approved countries must have travel insurance coverage.

Entry form required?

  • Yes

  • Travellers from approved countries must provide full details of accommodation and show booking vouchers if asked by the immigration desk when disembarking.

  • All the arrivals will need to apply for Health Travel Authorization at least 72-hours prior to departure. During apply, travellers need to submit the evidence of negative COVID-19 test, itinerary, and proof of accommodation. The Travel Authorization will remain valid only for one day after arrival. The Travel Authorization can be retrieved and verified at https://seychelles.govtas.com/application-check and https://seychelles.govtas.com/status-check respectively.

Airline restrictions

  • Moderate

  • Seychelles International Airport reopened to commercial international flights.

  • Ahead of the peak season for tourism, Air Seychelles is scheduled to resume flight services to Maldives from 5 December.

  • Domestic flights are operating.

  • Face masks are mandatory while boarding internal flights.

Border restrictions

  • Moderate

  • Borders are open with some restrictions.

  • Yachts, super yachts, and leisure fishing boats are allowed to operate in Seychelles waters only after obtaining clearance from Port of Victoria.

  • Cruise ships and private recreational vessels are not allowed to dock at least through 2021.

  • Pre-authorized vessels are allowed to dock at Port of Victoria. A 14-day self-quarantine and a negative COVID-19 certificate are necessary for arrivals.

  • Anyone wishing to extend the visa/residency status, must contact Seychelles Immigration and Civil Status Office.

Curfew restrictions

  • Minimal

  • No curfew is in place.

Social distancing restrictions

  • Moderate

  • Public assemblies are limited to a maximum of four people in all public places.

  • People should follow all social distancing measures. Violators will be fined or imprisoned.

Internal travel restrictions

  • Minimal

  • Masks are required on internal flights

  • Inter-island public transport has resumed.

  • Those providing essential services are allowed to travel on the Seychelles ferry service.

Non-essential shops open?

  • Yes

  • Shops are open.

  • Retail sectors have resumed

Accommodations open?

  • Yes

  • Some hotels are open. Travellers should only stay in hotels authorized by the Public Health Authority. Staying in accommodations other than these venues can be done after getting approval from the local authorities.

Restaurants open?

  • Yes

  • Restaurants have resumed services with social distancing measures.

Bars and cafes open?

  • Yes

  • Bars are open

Beaches and tourism sites open?

  • Yes with exceptions

  • Commercial tourist activities have resumed. However, travellers are advised to avoid unnecessary tourist trips.

  • Beach activities are allowed only by the members of the same household. Beach parties are prohibited.

Personal care services open?

  • Yes

  • Gyms and fitness facilities are open

Places of worship open?

  • Yes

  • Indoor religious services are allowed.

Events allowed?

  • Yes

  • Indoor public shows, meetings and conferences, sports activities (without spectators) are allowed. Permission is needed for these activities.

Masks required in public?

  • Yes

  • Wearing of face masks is mandatory at all public places.

Other

  • Construction and postal services have resumed.

  • Educational institutions are open.

  • Casinos, cinemas, and marine leisure crafts are open. Permission is needed for these activities.
