Volcano Erupts in Kamchatka - Russia

On 3 August, the Krasheninnikov volcano at the Kronotsky Reserve erupted after 600 years. The volcano sent an ash plume approximately 6 km high, spreading eastward over the Pacific Ocean. No ashfall has been recorded in inhabited areas, and there are no immediate threats to populated regions. A 7.0-magnitude earthquake accompanied the eruption, prompting a brief tsunami warning for three areas, which was later lifted by authorities. Moderate explosive activity may continue, although the volcano’s intensity has reportedly decreased. The eruption followed a massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake in Kamchatka earlier in the week.
