Kidnapping Threat in Pakistan

As of 25 February, the Pakistan Intelligence Bureau issued a high alert in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi regarding an alleged abduction plot targeting foreign guests attending the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match for ransom. Authorities suspect active covert groups, including Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, ISIS, and Balochistan-based groups, are likely to target Chinese and Arab nationals. Additional security forces have been deployed. Surveillance measures are in place at ports, airports, offices, and residential areas.
