Update: Rise in Flood Evacuees, Red Zones Declared - Malaysia

As on 29 November, a sharp rise in flood evacuees has been reported in Kelantan, Kedah, Perak, Perlis, Terengganu and Negeri Sembilan. Multiple red zones have been declared in these states. Seven major rivers in Kelantan and nine in Terengganu have exceeded their danger levels. While weather conditions have slightly improved, authorities have advised residents to stay in temporary relief shelters until further notice.

The BDB Jitra Half Marathon 2024 scheduled for 30 November has been cancelled owing to severe floods in the Kubang Pasu district, Kedah.

Avoid the affected areas especially those near rivers, if possible, as power supply, transportation and communication systems may be disrupted. If travelling in the affected area, ensure access to adequate shelter and other essential services. Avoid contact with flood water due to possible risk of contamination.
