COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in San Marino (22 November Update)

Can a resident enter the country?

  • Yes

  • Citizens and residents can enter in San Marino.

Can a foreigner enter the country?

  • Yes with exceptions

  • San Marino is landlocked by Italy. Currently, there are no additional restrictions imposed for San Marino, and anyone entering Italy is also allowed to enter San Marino.

  • Foreigners do not need a visa to visit San Marino. If staying in San Marino for less than 30 days in an official residence (ie hotel or bed and breakfast), a “permesso di soggiorno turistico” is not necessary. However, if staying privately, the traveller must report their stay to the Ufficio Stranieri (Foreigners’ Office) of the local Gendarmerie within 24 hours of arrival. If staying for work, a “permesso per motivi di lavoro” (a work permit), is necessary which is issued for some categories of workers only.
