US Embassy Issues Security Alert - Nigeria

The US Embassy in Nigeria has issued a security alert for processions and gatherings in Abuja and other cities in Nigeria due to Ashura. The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) is expected to participate in Ashura events in Abuja and other cities.  IMN activities have, in the past, resulted in physical altercations, roadblocks, and traffic congestion. Possible Locations may include Fouad Lababidi Mosque, National Mosque on Constitution Avenue, Eagle Square and Unity Fountain on Shehu Shagari Way, Banex Plaza, and Berger Junction in Abuja.
