Dengue fever in Thailand could exceed last year's total number of cases

Various areas in Thailand are experiencing large numbers of reported cases of dengue fever. The estimated number of cases by the end of the year could reach 150 000 cases with up to 150 deaths. There may be many unreported cases since counting and reporting may be hampered by lack of local access to health care, and many persons with mild illness may not seek health care. Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
