On 7 April, emergency evacuations continued across the Orenburg region, following a dam collapse on the Ural River in Orsk. Over 6000 people have been evacuated with over 4500 areas, including residential buildings and schools severely flooded. Due to water melt, a river in Yelshanka (Volgograd) also overflowed. Water levels in Samara River, Buzuluk also exceeded the critical levels. Flooding is also anticipated in the Urals region of Kurgan and the Siberian region of Tyumen. Flood warnings and evacuation orders have been issued in these regions. The federal emergency in Orenburg continues. Flood waters are expected to recede only after 20 April.
Advice
Avoid non-essential travel to the affected areas since there may be power outages and damage to infrastructure, such as roads, transportation, and communication systems. Avoid contact with flood water due to the possible risk of contamination. If travelling in the affected area, ensure access to adequate shelter and other essential services.
