Dangerous heat wave in southern Europe

A dangerous heatwave in parts of Europe has caused temperatures that have soared to 44 degrees Celsius (111 F). Affected countries include Spain, Portugal, southern France, Italy, Slovenia, Serbia, Romania, Croatia, Hungary, Albania, parts of England, and southern Poland.

Advice

Try to remain indoors in air-conditioned surroundings during the hottest parts of the day, 10:00 to 1400. If outdoors, drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. Remember that alcohol is dehydrating. Avoid strenuous exercise.
