Dengue Fever - multiple outbreaks of dengue fever reported by various countries

Dengue fever cases, deaths and outbreaks have been reported from the following countries:

Zamboanga, Philippines; Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Aquidauana and Anastácio, Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil; and Paraguay.

Travellers to these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and may not be reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community that are not reported.
