Dengue fever will continue in Asia in 2014

Cases and outbreaks of dengue fever continue to be reported in the following countries and regions:

  • Philippines - Ormoc City, Leyte province, Eastern Visayas region
  • Malaysia - Penang
  • Taiwan - Kaohsiung; outbreaks often occur in July and August, but the first reported case in 2014 occurred in January. Many cases of dengue fever are not reported. Counting and reporting cases may be difficult due to lack of local access to health care. Many persons with mild illness do not seek health care.
