France declares state of emergency and closes national borders

The President of France has declared a state of emergency and ordered national borders closed in response to the multiple shooting and bomb attacks in Paris. The known sites of attacks were the Bataclan concert venue and the following restaurants, Le Carillon and Le Petit Cambodge on rue Alibert, and La Belle Equipe on rue de Charonne. A suicide attack was reported near Stade de France, St. Denis.

At this time, 140 people are reported to have been killed along with five attackers.

Police have set up a special emergency number to call if you need help: 197.

People have been asked to stay indoors, and military personnel are being deployed across the city.

American Airlines has delayed flights to Paris in response to the attacks.

Currently Charles de Gaulle International Airport is open, however, remaining departures this evening to Paris may be on hold.

The French foreign ministry stated that airports would remain open, and flights and train service would continue.

Schools and universities in the Paris region will be closed tomorrow.
