Large outbreak of food poisoning in Hokkaido and Sapporo, Japan

At least 6 people have died and over 100 have suffered food poisoning from consuming pickled cabbage that was not properly processed by an unnamed company in Sapporo. The pickling process did not eliminate E.coli bacteria. While many of the cases were in nursing homes, consumption of the contaminated product occurred elsewhere as well. Travellers should avoid consuming pickled cabbage until the contaminated product is identified and removed from the market.
