At least 200 cases of hepatitis A have been reported from the villages of Mixtla de Altamirano and San Juan Texhuacan and surrounding areas. Lack of potable water and inadequate sanitation are being blamed for this outbreak. Travellers should be aware that hepatitis A is preventable through vaccination.
