Malaria Concerns in Tamil Nadu, India

So far in 2018, over 2 million people have been examined for the presence of malaria parasites. Of these, 603 people were found to be infected. While this number is small as a percentage of the number tested, it is almost five times the percentage of positive cases for the same time period last year.

Advice

All travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
