Malaria is a high risk in Vietnam

Every year, there are approximately 30,000 people infected with malaria, and 10 of them die from the severe form. The dangerous form of malaria (falciparum) has appeared in Vietnam’s five central provinces of Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, and Binh Phuoc, but it is likely to spread to other nationwide localities.

Advice

All travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
