Malaria outbreak alarms officials in Namibia

A sudden increase in malaria cases in the Ohangwena Region has alarmed health officials. So far, approximately 430 cases and several fatalities have been registered in the past month.

Advice

Travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended for persons travelling to this region from November through June.
