Measles outbreaks in multiple countries (summary)

Measles outbreaks of varying severity have been reported from the following countries:

• United Kingdom - Bedfordshire, Glousestershire, and Lancashire
• Spain - Mallorca and Balearic Islands
• Pakistan - Islamabad and Rawalpindi (deaths reported)
• Canada (Ottawa, national capital region, and Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island)
• United States - California and Washington States Travellers are reminded that outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to the highly contagious measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
